Planning Committee
Meet on a regular basis to help plan, organize and develop New Mexico’s first Earth Day Festival 2024. Reach out to prospective sponsors, vendors and volunteers and communicate to Executive Director and/or Art Gardenswartz for follow through.  

Volunteer Coordinator
Recruit, organize, train and supervise all volunteers and crew leaders under the direction of the Volunteer Coordinator. Organize t-shirt distribution for volunteers. Help coordinate food: snacks and beverages for volunteers at the Volunteer HQ during the Festival. Help set up Volunteer Recognition and Awards banquet on Saturday night. Work with the Volunteer Crew Leaders to fill in where needed.

Volunteer Crew Chiefs
Recruit, organize, train, and supervise all volunteers under the direction of the Volunteer Coordinator.

• Help set up Volunteer Recognition and Awards reception on Saturday night, April 20, 2024 at Sid Cutter Pavilion.
• Coordinate purchase and set up of reception refreshments.
• Coordinate in-person pre-event volunteer training and t-shirt distribution for volunteers (1-2 weeks before Earth Day Festival.)

Day of Event Set Up and Vendor Assistance
Help prepare grounds for the Earth Day Festival NM. Activities include moving tables/chairs, setting up barricades, picnic tables and traffic signage, vendor unloading/set-up assistance and placing recycling bins throughout the festival. Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs. Shifts for pre-event set up begin at 6:30am and set up must be completed by 10am.

Vendor Check In and Check Out for Sunday’s Festival
Check in vendors as they enter the Festival and facilitate breakdown.

Early vendor set-up begins at 6:30am and must end by 10am Sunday. Vendors must be set up by 10am.

Vendor breakdown begins at 4pm and ends at 7pm. Vendors may not start breakdown until 4pm.

Traffic Control

Manage access points and direct traffic flow to Festival parking. Set up EV area in parking lot, and then guide EVs to EV parking area. Cars are not allowed on the grass. Provide general guidance to Festival attendees (check in area, bathroom locations, etc) Drive golf carts for attendees who need help getting from parking lot to festival.

Remember: You are the face of the festival. The first contact the guests have as they arrive at the Festival!

Volunteer Coordinator & Volunteer Crew Leaders
Recruit, organize, train and supervise volunteers. Organize t-shirt distribution for volunteers. Help coordinate food: snacks and beverages for volunteers at the Volunteer HQ during the Festival. Help set up Volunteer Recognition and Awards banquet on Saturday night.

Volunteer Crew Chiefs
Coordinate purchase and distribution of snacks and beverages to volunteers during event.

• Coordinate volunteers working set up, traffic, and break-down on the morning and afternoon of the festival.
• Serve as crew chief for a group of volunteers during Earth Day Festival for a 2-hour block.

Information and Welcome Booths
Greet and welcome guests. Provide information, distribute programs, and answer questions about the festival. Direct the visitors to Energy Guides or the Electrification Booth. Report any problems to the Welcome crew chief.

Festival Guides
Volunteers who walk through the Festival to answer questions, keep things tidy, organize panels, and help solve problems. Help with Zero Waste and guide use of the proper recycling and compost containers.

Electrification Volunteers

• Energy Guide: No previous knowledge required. We'll train you! Meet guests at the Welcome Booth and after panel discussions to guide them to the Energy Experts and booths related to their electrification and sustainability interests. Answer general questions about electrification options.
• Energy Expert: Are you a contractor, electrician, plumber, builder or engineer with electrification experience? Or are you a CPA or clean energy advocate who understands the financial incentives available for electrification? Please join us to help people make a personalized electrification plan!
• EV and E-Bike Owner: Do you own an EV or E-Bike? Volunteer to talk to people about your experiences.
• Homeowners or Renters: Have you electrified in some way (e.g. installed and electric or induction stove, heat pump water heater, EV charger, added solar batteries or just use an induction hot plate?) and will you share your experiences with others?

Team Green Surveyors – Program Distribution & Crowd Counting
Will greet attendees with a smile, answer questions and an event program. Handout QR code flyers to attendees and ask attendees to fill out a short online survey to determine if we are serving the community equitably.

Transportation
Important to guide traffic flow in and around the Festival, volunteers will direct vendors, volunteers, the public and answer questions. Volunteers over 18 years old are needed for certain locations to drive golf cart transports to and from parking lots for disabled attendees.

Kids Activity Center
Set up, help with, organize, projects, games and activities. Encourage youth and children to be creative, respectful and enjoy the area. Assist parents and children with activities. Be part of a team that provides a safe, fun and creative environment. Be aware of unsafe activities and address them as needed. Report suspicious persons to security or your crew leader.

Social (Media) Butterflies
This job is for the social media enthusiasts out there! All you have to do is ENJOY the festival and post pics and videos of Earth Day’s attractions to your social media accounts as you walk around.

Festival Tear Down & Clean Up

Tear Down Heroes
Help return the grounds to their pre-Festival splendor. Work with the direction of the volunteer coordinator. Loading and unloading gear, equipment and tools.

Activities may include but are not limited to breaking-down booths (such as Info, recycling stations, volunteer, merchandise, etc.), table/chair stacking, traffic flow control, picking up debris on the event grounds, and assisting with loading supplies. Cleaning various areas – inside and outside

Recycling On the Go – Clean Stewards
From the morning setup crew on Saturday to Sunday night make sure no waste is left on the festival grounds. Haul vendor waste materials and helping attendees sort their waste for recycling and compostable materials at waste stations. The best part of an event is the satisfaction of seeing the combined impact of many hands-on reducing waste to the landfill. Breakdown equipment for loading into vehicles. (Must be willing to work with trash. Safety equipment provided. Waste collectors must be able to lift at least 20 lbs.)
